Easter Simnel Cake & Chocolate Hamper
Here we have a traditional Simnel cake (with a twist) accompanied by delicious shortbread variations and a practically compulsory box of Belgian chocolates – because there has to be chocolate at Easter, according to some unwritten but extremely important rule. If you haven’t seen a Simnel cake before it’s a delicious fruitcake that used to be eaten on Easter Sunday in the UK, although it’s so delicious it would go down well on any day of the year. The original recipe called for layer of marzipan topped with 11 marzipan balls to represent all of the Apostles except Judas. This beautifully updated version features a pattern of Easter eggs printed onto the layer of marzipan and finished with a fine sifting of edible gold dust. An absolutely eggsellent gift for Easter. (Sorry).
